Today was pretty busy. It wasn't a bad day, but it was just... busy. :) And since I no longer update my Project 365, this is sort of a make-up post.
It's my grandfather's birthday. Yesterday Mama said he wasn't feeling well, so I made it a point to call him as soon as I woke up. He sounded really happy, especially when I said that my brother Miks and I were going home this weekend. Later, I found out that my uncle & his family will be there tomorrow so that should make Lolo doubly happy.
I went to the bookstore today to get a present for him (hurrah for subsidy!). I found this U.S. Presidents Factbook by Elizabeth Jewell, which I know he'll like, being the history buff that he is. I gave him a book last week, and Papa said he was devouring it. Awesome. I love you, Lolo. :)
I also got to spend some time with my friend & former co-worker Winston, who was going to watch Transformers 2.

This is where I get yappy.
The PC I use at work has been acting up lately, and today, it was just completely crazy. It kept shutting down and restarting on me until finally, our IT guy said the OS was corrupted and had to be reinstalled. I spent a good part of the day using someone else's computer and...
... making paper bags with old newspaper. See, I bought some cold cuts and when I take them home, the security at the train will be sure to tell me that I need to wrap them in newspaper or something to prevent them from smelling. The thing is, it's hard to wrap them then open them again to be inspected (because they won't take your word that it's cold cuts) then wrap them back up again.
So I figured, why not make a paper bag out of newspapers? That way, I can always say "Eh nakabalot naman sa diario ah!"
Yeah, I can be a smart-alec at times.
Here are the books I got. I also got Diana Wynne Jones' "The House of Many Ways" for myself. It's been a while since I got any new fantasy books, so this was a good buy for me.
And when I got home, the boys went shopping for milk and cereal. They couldn't find a big box so they made do with the small packets. Yep, even cereal comes in tinggi.
I should go to sleep now.
I have been inconsistent with my Project 365, not because I have nothing to share but mostly because I am lazy. I know I could catch up on the days but I figured I'd rather not. I'm in a phase where I have this "I don't have to share everything with you" mentality.
Hence, the mushroom.
Thursday night I received a package from (well, I guess you can say she's a friend of sorts now), containing books I purchased from her. After a bit of delay I finally got it, and over the past few days I've been delving into them (if I'm not online).
Was supposed to go out and meet some friends but something came up... like the weather. :p Bit of an inconvenience but we'll have to postpone.
Mind's rambling.

I was happily vegging at home when sometime around 10:30 AM, the alarms in the building sounded. I had forgotten about the Fire Safety seminar that day, so I was jolted out of my stupor. I had been awake since 4:30 AM, having been asleep since 6:30 the night before. Since I didn't have anything else to do, I decided to go out, and lugged the camera.
Like the past seminars, they had a demo of how to use a fire extinguisher. This year, they evev had a demo of how a rescue of tall buildings were done. They didn't have the demo for the fire hose though.Later in the evening, my brothers and I went to watch "Angels and Demons". I have to reread the book before I argue with my brother about the changes. (IMO, if you read Da Vinci, A&D plus any other of Dan Brown's books, you'll be able to figure out who the villain is in the next book of his you read). For May 23, 2009. Skipped May 22.

Today seemed to be all about celebrations. I managed to catch the live telecast of American Idol Season 8's finale (Go Kris Allen!) and was giddy with it for most of the day. Later, I cleaned the house and had a good time with the exercise. Afterwards, I went with my parents to my mom's high school meet-up. It was a fascinating trip seeing them. What was interesting was that my mom & these ladies barely remember each other, but they talked and laughed and partied like old friends.
I was, along with the nephew of one of them, the one who just wanted to go to bed and sleep, haha.
For May 21, 2009. I skipped a few days because of the backlog (thanks to a non-existent DSL service for nearly two weeks!) and I couldn't quite remember what I did the past few days. :p
My best friend of nearly 20 years just passed the bar. I went to her house for a thanksgiving party... fresh from an eight hour trip from Baguio. Hurrah for SM at Rosales for the nearly 2 hour traffic /endsarcasm.
Congratulations to my best friend. Now, I have another lawyer. I need doctors now. :) For May 17, 2009

After a full day of roaming around the mall yesterday and hanging out with my siblings, I spent time online and checked my accounts. My brother went home early today, while Den & her sister went off to meet a friend of theirs, I went with my sister to meet some of my friends who were doing work in Baguio.
It's a common tourist spot, but no one can go up to the main building itself. Guests can only stay up until the gates and a few meters beyond it. I felt really lucky to be able to get in. It's a lovely place, still lush and green. I pray that most of Baguio would be able to retain that as well.Ooh, there's the bag!
For a full entry about this trip, you can read it all here.

After work yesterday, I went to Megamall to pick up Den and her sister, who joined us at the last minute. That was fun because my brother also decided to go with us. We wanted to take the midnight bus but that was full so we ended up with the 2 AM trip. We killed the time at 7-11, gorging ourselves on junk food. I was hyper.
Ticket mix-up, but otherwise, it was all good. The trip was very long, compared to the usual 6 hour trip. We arrived with the sun high up in the sky, but man it was so worth it.
Hello again, Baguio.

Work was just about usual. I think we've adjusted pretty well.
I asked my boss if I could have a leave from work tomorrow. She said yes. So I told the guys that they have to cover for me, and I'll be back Sunday to do the work.
I'm off to visit my sister, bond with my siblings & be with my friends.

We got paid the subsidiaries owed to us for the past three months. I decided to go buy a laptop-cum-travel bag, so I could retire the big, dirty yellow Gap bag I've been using since college. Plus, with a laptop, I know I needed a more stable one.
I went around the mall after work, and picked this one up at Rustan's. Other bags cost a bit more, and Samsonite's a pretty good brand so I went with it. I was initially hesitant to get blue even though it's my favorite color. Still, I think it's a good buy. The laptop fits in the slot for it very well, even with the sleeve on, and the straps look sturdy. If this bag lasts for at least three years, I'll be happy.
